Let’s go – the mountains are calling! Whether you are a beginner or passionate mountaineer, the Alps have wonderfully diverse routes that are waiting to be explored by ambitious hikers. The reward is fantastic views of impressive peaks and magnificent valleys.
Heiner Machalett, our new addition to the Look photographers, can’t escape the fascination of the mountains either. He has traveled the Alps in Austria, Switzerland, and Bavaria for us, as have Hans Georg Eiben, Christian Bäck, and Axel Ellerhorst. Impressions from the wonderful Elbe Sandstone Mountains are provided by Andreas Strauß, among others.
Off to the mountains!
Alps in Austria and Switzerland
Is there anything more beautiful than starting the morning with sunrise at a mountain lake? The crystal clear Bachalpsee in the Bernese Alps reflects the peaks of Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn, and Finsteraarhorn. If this isn’t a postcard idyll…
Not only peaks at dizzying heights but also rushing waterfalls and wildly romantic gorges, such as the Wimbachklamm near Ramsau in the Berchtesgaden National Park, make hiking in the Bavarian mountains so incredibly attractive.
Whoever climbs the Lilienstein in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the Saxon Switzerland National Park is rewarded with a magical view of the Elbe Valley. The strongly rugged rocky mountains are famous for their extraordinary wealth of forms in a very small area. It is pure poetry.
